In just a few short weeks, college students all around the country will begin to pack their bags and leave campus for the highly anticipated spring break. By now, many students have their plans laid out for their week off from school, but we can’t forget about the few last-minute planners! If you and your friends are late to the planning game, on a bit of a budget, and need some ideas on where to embark next month…keep reading!

Key West, FLorida

Located at Florida’s southernmost point, Key West is just one of the many “keys” that make up some of the Sunshine State. It’s known for its beautiful beaches, watersport opportunities, “sunset sail” excursions, and vibrant nightlife. But no worries, because all of that fun can still be had even when on a budget! The white-sand beaches are free open to the public and many of the tourist-like activities and excursions, such as snorkeling, can start at only $40 per adult. Not the adventurous type? Take a stroll down the famous Duval Street, which is known for its shops, restaurants, and bars. Plus, guests can find a wide array of inexpensive hotel options such as the Seashell Motel and International Hostel, as well as many rental houses/condos also available.

Myrtle beach, south carolina

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is home to countless beaches, amusement facilities, aquariums, restaurants, and more. After a day of relaxing on the stunning shores, take a trip to the Hollywood Wax Museum or Ripley’s Aquarium. For shopping, eating, and live entertainment, guests can take a trip to Broadway at the Beach, a favorited tourist complex full of fun activities. This is another destination that has affordable options for hotels, including the Compass Cove Myrtle Beach Resort and The Caribbean Resort and Villas.

Playa del carmen, mexico

One of the most popular countries that college students, and people of all ages, travel to for spring break is Mexico! Located along the Caribbean shoreline, Playa Del Carmen has more than enough to offer. One of the city’s most famous beaches, Parque Fundadores, has public/free entry and is just a short walk from Quinta Avenida (a five-mile-long strip of art exhibits, shops, restaurants, bars, and entertainment). Feeling adventurous? Take this opportunity to go snorkeling in the crystal waters of Mexico. Playa Del Carmen’s inexpensive resort options include Hotel Ammare, The Palm at Playa, and Hotel Posada Sian Kaan.

Savannah, Georgia

If tropical getaways aren’t quite your thing, then Savannah, Georgia may just be the perfect spot for you! Especially when on a budget, Savannah is sure to be a fun-filled adventure with endless things to fill up your itinerary. For one, the city is home to many historical sites such as Forsyth Park, Davenport House Museum, and The Old Sorrel Weed House Museum & Tours. Additionally, the eastern Georgia city has affordable sightseeing tours and free entry to the Savannah Botanical Gardens. Need a place to stay? Check out The Isletta Inn, Savannah Garden Hotel, or the George Baldwin House Garden Apartment.

Ocho rios, jamaica

For another international option, Ocho Rios is a beautiful resort town in northern Jamaica with an abundance of opportunities for a fun, but relaxing vacation. It’s most known for its fishing village, waterfalls, and Blue Hole. For just $20, guests can visit the famous Blue Hole, a natural “sinkhole” for swimming, surrounded by a beautiful waterfall. Ochos Rios also offers an array of dining, shopping and entertainment options, not far from its variety of affordable resorts, which include Hillview at Mystic Ridge, Sandcastles Deluxe Beach Resort, and Hibiscus Lodge.
