Being back in your hometown for the first time…repping your school spirit
As a freshman, I personally can’t wait until I’m back in my hometown for the first time since leaving for college! I have grown and changed so much in these three months; I can’t wait to go back wiser, more confident and independent…not to mention repping my school pride and spreading my love for JMU!
Catching up with all your friends after a three-month separation
All of my friends back home better be ready for the biggest and tightest hugs of their lives. Three months feels like an eternity after being with the same people almost every day for years of your life. I’m so stoked to see all my friends, catch up on each other’s lives, and spend quality time with my favorite people who remind me of home. <3
Going back to your favorite cafés and coffee shops
I’m looking forward to visiting my go-to hometown spots, specifically the cozy cafes and coffee shops, to either catch up with friends or find a motivating way to get some work done…because homework over break IS unfortunately a thing in college.
Friendsgiving
I’ve been planning Friendsgiving with my friend group since before I left for college. I’ve never done it before and I’m so pumped! It’s such a fun concept and the perfect way to be in the thankful spirit.
Watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
It’s a tradition in my family to wake up early Thanksgiving morning, make my coffee and watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with my family. I’m all comfy in my pajamas, with the smells of my mom cooking in the kitchen…such homey vibes. And not to mention JMU’s marching band is performing at the parade this year! Can’t wait to be bragging to all my friends and family…because I mean how cool is that?!
Getting that much needed home-cooked Thanksgiving meal
Even though JMU is in the top 5 for best campus food in the country…even this creature of habit can get sick of eating the same thing every day. And who doesn’t miss a nice, warm and cozy home-cooked meal?!
Family time by the fire and movie nights on the couch
My family are truly my best friends. They are crazy, but I love them to death and wouldn’t change a thing about them. They know me like no one else and can make me feel so loved and happy on a level that can never be matched. I’m looking forward to being by the fire pit and movie nights on the couch. I’m from NY, so these first three months being so far from home for the first time in my life has taught me a lot about myself, but I’m ready for some much-needed quality family time. It’s just good for the soul.
Black Friday shopping
Everyone knows…the day after Thanksgiving the holiday season officially begins! I love Thanksgiving and never want to brush over it, but once the day has past…it’s Christmas time! I’ve never been a 1am Black Friday shopping kinda gal…but no matter if you go Thursday night, or Friday with your friends, it’s a fun tradition to start off your holiday shopping and officially get in the Christmas spirit!
