Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and I’m sure everyone has mixed feelings about it. Big family gatherings can be a lot of fun, but also stressful. I am here to help ease some of the stress by offering some activities you can do with your family over the holiday!

Clothespin Writing

This is a favorite in my family! All you need is a pack of clothespins, a pen, and a string. Everyone grabs a clothespin and writes down something/someone that they are thankful for, and then pins it up on the string or anywhere they chose! It’s a great opportunity to show your family how much they mean to you.

Family Feud

I’m sure you have all heard of family feud. Well, my family likes to take our own spin on it during Thanksgiving. First, you pick family members to be in charge of making the questions. These could be Thanksgiving related, family related, or anything you want. The questions and their list of answers get crafted and written down. Next, pick one person to be the host and they lead the questions. Split the family up into 2 teams and let the chaos begin!

Memory Jar

For this activity, everyone is asked to think of their favorite family memory of the year. They will write it down on a small piece of paper and place it into a jar. Once everyone has put their paper in, someone can read through all of the entries and reflect on the memories made!

Powerpoints

This one is a lot of fun. Everyone is asked to prepare a PowerPoint on any topic of their choosing to present to the family. The PowerPoint could be a collage of pictures of the family, a silly topic, or even if someone needs to practice a school project over break. This is a great way to showcase your talent while making everyone come together and have fun!

Baking

Food is at the heart of celebrating Thanksgiving. Something that could be a fun activity to bring the family together is having a bake-off. Who doesn’t love a little friendly competition! Split your family into 2 groups and have each make the same baked good. This could be a cake, cupcakes, or even something simple like cookies. Have one person become the judge and see who wins!
