It is that time of year again. Say bye bye to gray Toms and hello to wool woven LL.Bean’s. It isn’t an easy task to put away those summer and fall tops you never got to wear, and to dread the retrieval of the thick sweaters and socks. Let us not look down on this transition—we should be excited, excited for those comfy cozy outfits about to reintroduce themselves to fashion! The known excuse of wearing a “not-so-cute” outfit because of the tough travels through blistering wind from east to west campus is never questioned. Why? Because wool socks, three times wrapped around scarves, and those ugly red mittens your grandmother got you actually help you survive!

Surviving this weather is far better than wearing that fabulous outfit of no warmth, just to ultimately receive a date with the most popular guy in town (the doctor). He’s checking out all of the girls’ swollen throat glands too! This… can be prevented.

If you don’t like buying the itchy brand of wool socks from Target or Walmart, step your game up. Nordstrom’s has luxury wool socks that can eliminate those sick days and the best part is they don’t come in that ugly grey color, they come in a pretty pale-blush pink! You’ve made it through the feet portion—kudos. Boot-leg socks are even better! Not only are they thick and keep your feet warm, they also keep your entire lower leg and knee protected under those super skinny jeans. Departments such as Macy’s, JCPenney’s, Nordstrom’s, and even Target have these in stock.

Bath and Body Works have scented long lounge socks. These socks have gripped bumps on the bottom, so not only will your feet stay extra warm and firm on the cold tile, they’ll smell awfully nice!

Walking barefoot just isn’t an option in this 30-degree weather. Socks are overlooked as a piece of clothing. Wool socks come in handy when going out on the weekends under those knee high boots, getting up early for that 8 AM and even when going to sleep or lounging around the house.

Looking for other ways to stay warm? Lands End, Victoria Secret, and Target all have undergarments to keep your legs and upper body extremely warm during those freezing days. You can buy stylish holiday themed thermals or just plain staple colors.

So stay warm and keep those precious feet protected. This is your only chance during the year to indulge in the shopping of wool socks – so get to it!
