An Open Letter to My Mom

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JMU chapter.

Dear Mom,

You are my best friend, my mentor, and my hero — but best of all, you’re my Mom.

Thank you for being an inspiration.

You have always been my biggest role model. You have such a busy schedule with so many things to balance, but you always seem to get everything done with grace and while making it look effortless. Seeing your work ethic is what motivates me to stay focused on achieving my goals.  I promise to always strive to be hardworking, kind, and thoughtful — just like you.

Thank you for offering the best advice.

Even when it’s not exactly what I want to hear in the moment, I know you’re coming from a good place. You genuinely have my best interests at heart and know me better than anyone else. You want nothing more than for me to succeed and I appreciate this more than you could ever imagine.

Thank you for helping me grow.

Going off to college is a major milestone for personal growth, but I couldn’t have done it without your support. You always push me to venture out of my comfort zone and because of this I have achieved so many great things, created lifelong friendships, and am having the time of my life.

Thank you for encouraging me to do my best.

I am the motivated woman that I am today because of you. You taught me to always shoot for the stars and never settle for less. This is something that I will carry with me forever.

Most importantly, thank you for loving me unconditionally.

I feel like the luckiest person in the world to be able to call you Mom. You’ve seen me at my best and definitely at my worst, but love me regardless. I could never thank you enough for all you do for me.

I love you!
