Let’s face it: there are just certain things you need to have here at JMU. With the unpredictable weather, chilly classrooms, and hilly campus, our wardrobes have to be fashionable and functional too! Here are some of the staples that are in my closet I’d recommend have in yours too:

  •  Rain-boots. Whatever you call them (wellies, duck boots, etc), you have to have a good pair of rain boots. Especially with all the crazy weather we’ve had recently, nothing keeps your feet cozier than a sturdy pair of rain boots and comfy socks. I like L.L. Bean’s 8 inch Bean Boots; you can even get a pair with insulated lining! (L.L. Bean)
  •   Fleece. The chilly weatherthe Shenandoah Valley brings means only one thing to me- fleece. And layers. I love just throwing on a fleece, either quarter-zip or jacket, and heading out the door. Check out some of the ones at Vineyard Vines for pastel colors or if you’re looking for a good investment, Patagonia or Mountain Hardware.
  •  Boots. I love them all: ankle, mid-calf, cowboy, knee lenth, or over the knee. A good pair of boots can dress up your outfit and instantly make you look chic. Steve Madden and even Target (!) have great pairs at seriously affordable prices. (Target)
  • Quality Jeans. Literally, I don’t know what I’d do if I didn’t have a few pairs of jeans in my closet. Find the right length/fit/color combination can be tough, especially if you’re a shorter girl, like me. I cannot get over Levi’s new ‘Find Your Curve’ quiz that let’s you figure you the right shape of jeans for you. I may or may not have already ordered a pair… (Levi’s)

Whatever your fashion inclination, we all have staples in our closets. What are yours?
