Sometimes, you can tell what a person’s major is just by looking at their outfit. At JMU, there are a few “classic” outfits that give hints as to what a person’s major is. Here’s what you may notice:

SMAD

SMAD majors are usually seen in “artsy” clothes—think flannels, beanies and Birkenstocks. If you catch them with a camera, it’s pretty much a dead give away.

Business

Business majors tend to rock pant suits or business casual garb. If they don’t have a presentation that day, you’ll find them hiding out in Showker in sweats—there’s no in between.

Nursing

If you see someone in purple scrubs, there’s no question that they’re a nursing major. Who else would carry a stethoscope around their neck?

Kinesiology

If you see someone in soccer pants or running shorts and a t-shirt, they’re likely a Kinesiology major. We wish we could look this put-together in gym clothes!

Art

Art majors’ clothes definitely make you jealous. They have the coolest dresses, maxi skirts and accessories.

Whether you fall into one of these categories or not, it’s interesting to see the various styles across campus. Do you notice any other trends within certain majors?
