How to Look Put Together When Running Late

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JMU chapter.

Your alarm rings its hateful tone once again. And once again, you hit snooze, hit snooze, and snooze some more. Causally, you roll over to see the time and realize you have fifteen minutes until you have to be in class! Ever have those mornings? We all have! Your first instinct is to leap out of bed and run into class in your flannel PJ bottoms and oversized tee. However, the homeless look was so last season! Here are some tips to help get ready in under fifteen minutes and look effortlessly put together.

Most likely, a full face of make-up just isn’t in the plan today. Instead, try applying a BB Cream to correct any redness and hide dark-circles. Apply a quick coat of your favorite mascara and pop a shimmer eye shadow in the inner corners of your eyes. This makes your eyes stand out and gives the illusion you had a great night’s sleep.

For most, myself included, bed head is no joke! My mane takes a minimum of fifteen minutes to be tamed and when running late, a good hair day just seems impossible. However, I recently invested in jeweled headbands from J. Crew and they are a lifesaver. After making a quick ponytail, slide the headband on and instantly look more glamorous than I feel.

The hardest part of getting ready ANY morning is finding what to wear and on a day where you don’t have ample time – well, the task seems close to impossible. When I am rushed for time, I choose to layer. Adding a scarf to a comfysweater or high socks under a pair of boots gives the illusion you planned out what you are wearing.Think Lauren Conrad. She does effortless chic so well and I channel her natural but still on-trendstyle.

Although waking up late can make your morning feel hectic, you don’t have to look it! Getting ready in fifteen minutes is totally do-able! So go ahead, hit the snooze button just one more time.
