5 Reasons Why Target is Even Better in Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JMU chapter.

Let’s be real, ladies: Target might as well be our second home. Some of us spend more time in its bright red confines than in some of our classes. It’s not hard to do, especially considering the seasonal face-lift our favorite store gets during this time of year. There’s a limitless number of reasons why Target is at its all-time best as the weather cools down, but for the sake of saving you time (time you could be spending at Target), here’s an abbreviated list:

1. Plaid everything

Target has decided that they’re all about plaid this fall and we’re all about it, too. Nothing screams crisp October days quite like a tartan scarf. Don’t think that’s where Target is drawing the line, though: this fall, Target is giving us “basic girls” the opportunity to scoop up plaid kitchen utensils, bed sheets, and even beauty products. And with Target’s trademark cheap prices, it’s not even that big of a deal if your new goodies don’t hold up until next autumn.

2. The dollar section

Admit it, the dollar section is the best and worst thing that has ever happened to Target. You’re just stopping in to get one thing, but next thing you know you’re filling your cart with stickers, mason jars and decorative pillows. Everything is so cheap. The dangers of the dollar section are even more tempting this time of year: everything is pumpkin scented or otherwise seasonably appropriate.

3. Starbucks

We’re lucky to have a Starbucks right inside our local Harrisonburg store…or unlucky, depending on how much your bank account is suffering. And now that the weather is getting cooler, you can order a sugary, piping hot beverage with no shame. The only thing better than cruising through the aisles of Target is cruising through the aisles of Target with a hot latte in hand.

4. Halloween candy

No shame. You don’t have to have trick-or-treaters stopping by your place on October 31st to justify buying that bag of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. And candy corn. And Starburst. Girl, Halloween only happens once a year, so treat yourself. And then stock up for round two on November 1st when it all goes on major sale. What? Bikini season isn’t for a while, anyway.

5. Target during Halloween is just a gateway to Target during the holidays

Finally, the reason Target is so great this time of year: it’s only getting better. As we approach the winter holidays, Target is only getting jollier and more magical. And yes, they will start putting out the Christmas trees the day after Halloween. You have two options: be a total Grinch about it or put on your Uggs and embrace the most basic time of the year.
