5 Reasons Demi Lovato’s My Fashion Icon… and Should be Yours Too!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JMU chapter.

Demi Lovato is no longer known as the cheesy girl from the Disney Channel movie, “Camp Rock,” nor the lunatic pop star who punched her own backup dancer. Eight months after her stay at a rehab center for an eating disorder and a diagnosis of bipolar disorder, Demi produced her third album, “Unbroken.” Every time “Give Your Heart a Break” plays on the radio, I just can’t help but sing along! Not only do I admire her music career and inner strength, I have also realized how much I adore her clothes! Here are five reasons why I’m calling Demi Lovato my new fashion icon…

1. She rocks this hairstyle. Not just anyone can pull this sassy ’do off. Demi is channeling her inner Pink and Gwen Stefani with this unique poof! I also love how she is able to mix a lacey dress with a leather jacket. So rocker chic!

2. Demi’s pink lips, sunglasses and studded jean jacket make her look like such a babe – yet another rocker-chic moment for Miss Lovato. On the left, Demi pairs her studded jacket with black lace and a statement necklace, all while showing her feminine side with hot pink lipstick and long, wavy hair. On the right, Demi goes ultra-fem with white lace and curls, but wears a bandana and sunglasses to counteract them.

3. She wears leather and lace like a pro. You can tell she has so much fun with her outfits and performances. In this picture, I really love her wavy hair because it gives her a laid-back, party girl-rocker vibe. Her look seems so effortless!

4. Demi is glamorous. While Demi does love to wear leather, denim and studs, she really knows how to dress for the red carpet! I love her coral dress and updo. What a lady!

5. She isn’t afraid of being unique with her style. I love the neon yellow and blue in this dress. And the floor-length sash makes the dress so edgy and fun!
