When people think of fall, they think of scary movies, apple orchards, scarves, and pumpkin spice everything. As we start to wind down after summer and begin the annual yearn for autumn everything, we want to consume every bit of fall media we can find in the months of October and November. I’ve compiled a list of my top five shows and movies that I feel truly embody the fall spirit.

  1. Over The Garden Wall

Over The Garden Wall was released in the fall of 2014 and seems to get more media recognition every year that passes. The gnarled trees, the kids costumes, and the spooky themes create the perfect timeless fall feeling.

  1. Practical Magic

Witches, a family curse, a murder, and a beautiful haunted home in New England; I mean, how much more fall can this movie get? From the plot to the setting to the wardrobe, Practical Magic remains a staple of fall nostalgia.

  1. Teen Wolf Season 2

While all of Teen Wolf feels like fall because of the paranormal aspects of the show, season 2 leans into the fall setting perfectly. The late night lacrosse games, graveyards, moody lighting, and fall foliage all add together to create the perfect fall season.

  1. Stepmom

Stepmom has flown under the radar and isn’t often mentioned today, but it might be the most fall-coded thing on this list. The interior design of the mother’s house, the fall foliage, and the constant sweaters and beanies in the characters’ wardrobes are perfect to quench your thirst for fall.

  1. Pretty Little Liars Season 1

Pretty Little Liars kicks off with the main characters heading back to school in September after the disappearance of one of their best friends. The suspenseful tone, cozy 2010’s fashion, and nostalgic filtering combine into a perfectly curated fall show that’s worth bingeing.
