5 Hairstyles Perfect for the Summertime

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JMU chapter.

Classes are almost done and summer time is right around the corner. Whether you have short or long locks, these hairstyles are ones anyone can rock during the hot summer months.

1. Princess Jasmine Ponytail

Princess Jasmine’s hair is always #Goals. I have actually tried this hairstyle quite a bit and will admit it is not that hard to master! All you need are a crazy ton of hair ties and some hairspray and the tutorial takes care of the rest! Besides…who wouldn’t want to look a Disney princess 24/7?!

2. Braid with flowers

I love Mimi Ikon’s hairstyle channel on youtube. I am not too skilled at braiding, but her tutorials are super easy to follow and she has such a bubbly personality. The addition of flowers will have you feeling like a fairy for sure.

3. Crown Braid Updo

Uh oh, another Braid! This will be the last one I promise, but crown braids are so pretty for the summer time, especially for a date or fancy outing with the besties. Updos are great for keeping the hair out of your face while it’s hot out, while at the same time making you look elegant and poised. #WIN

4. Flower Crown

Whether you snagged a ticket to Coachella or not, flower crowns are becoming very popular right now. You can go ahead and make one with some supplies from a craft store if you are artsy like that, or dish out some cash for a ready made one. Either way, you will look like a Festival princess even if you haven’t even stepped foot in one.

5. Mermaid Inspired

I grew up most of my life wanting to be a mermaid…I mean why did Ariel want to give up her legs anyway?! In all seriousness, if you are trying to find a way to spice up your look this summer why not try out a colored ombre? Ariel would be seriously jealous.

I am an English major obsessed with fashion, iced coffee, and Disney movies. You can most likely find me in a coffee shop editing on my computer, or taking #OOTD pics for my instagram.
