For this chilly Halloweekend I did makeup tutorial of a fun, easy ~alien~ themed makeup look. I also used all drugstore makeup in the effort to make Halloween looks possible for anyone on a budget!
Here is a list of drugstore products I used:
- Maybelline Fit Me Dewy & Smooth Foundation – $7.99
- Wet n Wild Coverall Face Primer – ($3.99)
- Nyx Pore Filler Primer ($13.99)
- RCMA No Color Powder ($12)
- Nyx Eyeshadow Base – White Pearl ($6.99)
- Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Kit – 394A I’m His Breezey ($3.99)
- Nyx Prismatic Eye Shadow – Blue Jeans ($5.99)
- Maybelline Color Tattoos – Silver Strike ($6.99)
- Wet n Wild Megaliner Liquid Eyeliner – Black ($2.99)
- a good colorful alternative would be the Nyx Vivid Brights Liquid Eyeliner which could work in the bright purple or bright blue colors, or the glitter version of the Wet n Wild Eyeliner.
- Wet n Wild Idol Eyes Crème Shadow Pencil – Techno ($0.99)
- Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom All-in1 Nude Palette for Face & Eyes – Natural ($13.99)
- Rimmel Super Curler 24HR Mascara – ($5.99)
Non drugstore products used included:
- Tarte Shape Tape Concealer – Light Medium ($24.00)
- Bite Beauty Lavender Jam ($26.00)
- Drugstore alternative: Nyx Turnt up! Lipstick in Playdate ($5.99)
How to achieve the look:
- Apply Nyx Pore Filler primer to areas of your face with enlarged pores (T zone/cheeks). Apply a small amount of Wet n Wild Primer all over the face. Let dry for a minute or so.
- Apply concealer under the eyes to cover dark circles. Apply foundation as normal all over the face. Blend with a beauty sponge. I use the Real Techniques Sponge ($6.99 from Ulta) or the Beauty Blender (more expensive)
- Set under eyes with a little bit of RCMA No color powder. This prevents creasing and keeps your under eye looking bright and smooth.
- Apply concealer to the eyelids and set with the same powder as a base for eyeshadow.
- Apply Wet n Wild Crème Shadow pencil all over the lid. Layer Nyx Prismatic shadow on top with a flat eye shadow brush.
- Use a fluffier, blending eye shadow brush (I used Wet n Wild Crease Brush – $0.99) blend around the lid with the Crease color from the Wet n Wild Eye shadow palette. Layer the lighter Browbone color along the edges to blend smoothly. Add a small amount of the Crease shade to the outer corner of your eyelid and blend everything together so there’s no harsh lines. Add a small amount of Maybelline Color Tattoo in silver to the middle of the lid to add some sparkle.
- Apply liquid eyeliner and mascara.
- Using a fluffier face brush (I used the Wet n Wild Blush Brush ($2.99) apply the Crease shade from the Wet n Wild Pallette to the areas of the face you normall add brozner (inside the hollows of the cheeks to add dimension and along the sides of the temples). Add the Eyelid color to these areas and blend. Add the Browbone colors slightly above these and blend. Blend the Nyx Prismatic eyeshadow along this area as well to add more sparkle.
- For a sparkly effect, add the Nyx Eyeshadow base along your cheek bones and down the bridge of your nose. On top of these areas, layer the shimmery shades from the Physicians Formula Face palette with any brush.
- For a little extra, contour the sides of the nose with the blue Crease eyeshadow and blend. Use any small eyeshadow brush.
- Apply Lipstick and you are all set for an out of this world Halloween!
Here was the final look, on the lovely Melissa Benerofe!
