A recent TikTok video regarding beauty content creator Mikayla Nogueira has over 50 million views, currently. The video is a paid partnership with L’Oreal promoting their new, where the creator states that she is “speechless” and does not believe that it can be compared to other mascaras. There were many allegations going around regarding whether or not she was wearing false lashes, receiving considerable hype. There were many mixed reviews regarding the results of the mascara. I was curious and have been testing out the mascara for the past 2 weeks. These are my thoughts as an average consumer:

The Brush Design and Application

The L’Oreal Telescopic Lift mascara has a paddle brush, featuring two different sides of bristles. The flat side of the brush is meant to help coat the lashes from root to tip, while the comb side is meant to separate the lashes. Personally, I do not prefer mascara wands with different sides of bristles, due to the learning curve and inconvenience. The flat side of the brush can make the lashes look clumpy upon application, however, the comb side is effective in really separating the lashes. When using this mascara the first few times, I had poked myself in the eye with the comb side of the wand, which is something to note.

I personally prefer 2 coats of mascara and will apply one coat to each eye, before moving onto the second coat. However, I noticed very early on that the mascara dries incredibly fast and by the time I got to applying the second coat, it was nearly impossible. I found that it’s better to focus on one eye at a time, and leave about 15 seconds between each coat, for the best effect.

The Longevity

L’Oreal claims this mascara to have a 36-hour wear time. I’ve only worn this mascara for a maximum of 16 hours, so I am far from telling whether or not this statement is true. Based on my experiences as a college student, the mascara has held up pretty well throughout the day though. There is absolutely no smudging with this mascara, but it does start to flake after 8-10 hours of wear. By the end of the night, my lashes still look as volumized, lifted, and separated as they did upon initial application.

Final Thoughts

Although this mascara does give my lashes volume and separation, it did not spark me. I do have longer lashes so I feel that a lot of mascaras work well on me. Regardless, the mascara dries so quickly upon application, and does flake quite a bit at the end of the day for me. Once I got used to the wand, it definitely made the application process quicker and gave my lashes a lifted and fanned-out appearance, yet it looks the same as a lot of other mascaras I’ve tried. I wouldn’t say that it lives up to its hype, but it’s only $14.99, and worth a try if you were interested.

I would rate this mascara 3.5/5 stars.
