StrEAT Food Fall Edition

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Jefferson chapter.

The Manayunk StrEAT Food Festival is an event that PhilaU students look forward to every semester.  This is the first time I have attended during the fall semester.  It took place on Thursday, September 14th from 5 pm to 10 pm, which was nice because we weren’t out in the heat of the day.  It cooled down as the sun set, and Main Street was suddenly alive with street performers, music, and a lot of happy people eating delicious food.

My favorite food truck is the Cow and the Curd, which sells cheese curds with different sauces, but I decided to switch it up and try something new this time around.  I got Buffalo Chicken and Waffles from Pbon’s Fresh Phood of Philly and it was delicious.  I had never had chicken and waffles before and this was definitely a great introduction to them.  For dessert, I got macaroons from Sugar Philly.  I tried passion fruit mango, chocolate, dulce de leche, and tiramisu, and they were honestly the best macaroons I have ever had.  They serve them cold which really sets them apart from the typical macaroons.

Some of my friends’ favorites include the Apple Pie Dumplings from Humpty’s Dumplings and Lobster Mac and Cheese Balls.  If you’ve never gone to the StrEAT Food Festival before, be sure to check out the next one during the spring semester.  It usually takes place on a weekend in April and it’s a must-have experience for PhilaU students.
