Started From the Bottom Now we Here

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Jefferson chapter.

Her Campus PhilaU has been an official Philadelphia University club since September 2015 and we have achieved more in this short amount of time than we thought we would in a full year!

Our team reached Bronze Level Chapter after only being a part of Her Campus for one semester! We received this accomplishment from Her Campus in December 2015. Being a Bronze Level Chapter means that we must meet the minimum requirements of content weekly (posting an article in each category each week), have an average of 100 users a week, at least 10 members of the club, social media posting for four consecutive days in a row and have 100 social media followers. For us, reaching this goal surpassed all of our expectations because we were aiming to become a Bronze Level Chapter by the end of the whole 2015/2016 school year! We were able to achieve our year long goal in one semester! This past year has been nothing short of a crazy roller coaster ride. After reaching our goal in one semester with a team of 6 freshman girls, 2 sophomores, 1 junior and 2 seniors, our team was made! We gained 3 more girls in the second semester and have made it our team goal to be a face on campus.

The majority of this club is underclassmen (ladies J) and we have all worked so hard to get us far beyond where we want to be. We have little to no funding for this club, but we do not let that defer us from doing fun group activities and being involved on campus. In the words of Drake we truly believe that we started from the bottom and now we here!!

We participated in Relay For Life and raised almost $750 dollars, together these girls work hard and work well together! We have big goals for the upcoming year, including “adopting” a child and doing service work with CHOP to make this possible.

We have gone from “Her what?” to “Oh you are the girls college blog thing, right? We love that!” People know who we are and what we do and that makes us beyond happy and excited and proud. This club has very quickly developed and made its way to the top!
