Single and not ready to mingle? Here’s 7 ways to spend your pandemic Valentine’s day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Jefferson chapter.

This article is for my single pringles that want to celebrate Valentine’s day but are fine with being single. In fact, it’s for all my introverts out there who also love using the pandemic as an excuse to not leave their house more than usual!! Here are some great ways to spend your Valentine’s day inside:

Bake a mini lunchbox cake

These cakes are all the rage online, and I can’t complain. These Korean minimalistic cakes are perfect for your party of one. With complete liberty on decorating and flavors, go crazy with this cake.

Bonus: Make some of that feta-tomato pasta that’s been all over TikTok (flavor variable, trendiness superb)

Make a playlist of  songs to have a mini concert by yourself

Extroverts will judge this idea but there’s not quite as enthralling as being your own popstar and spilling your killer dance moves on your bedroom dance floor. Blast some YouTube Karaoke and you are set to make it big…in your own heart.

Bonus: Make yourself some fan signs, set up some LED lights, and use TikTok’s Green Screen feature to pretend you’re performing with your favorite artists. (Leave that TikTok in the drafts though)

Make a blanket fortress

It’s not as crazy as it sounds. A snug blanket fort in February, a cup of hot coca, a rom-com, and some warm LED lights will set the tone for a cozy and comfy Valentine’s Day.

Treat yourself to a DIY spa, get yourself glowing for nobody but yourself

Face masks, lotions, gels, razors, candles, aromatherapy, nails, hair, and more. Get ready for some beauty!

(Hear me out) Pinterest Boards and Spotify Playlists

There’s something about organizing multimedia into categories, moods, and ideas. Go crazy on Pinterest, there’s a board for everything! Bucket lists, ideas for future Valentine’s Day outfits and dates, and even more single-person Valentine’s Day ideas such as crafts, foods, and activities.

Try curating some oddly specific Spotify Playlists. Believe me, time goes by in a flash when you’re trying to find the perfect final song for your playlist, “Songs that I play at midnight when I’m lonely”

Use this opportunity to transform your room and vibes from fall/winter to spring/summer

People might be partying irresponsibly in a pandemic, but that doesn’t mean you have to. In fact, you can use this precious time to blast some music and redo your room. Maybe your aesthetic changed from cottage-core and you’re more dark academia, redo your room, maybe throw some DIY crafts into the mix as well.

All of the above?

No, this isn’t the trick option, it might even be the best one!

Whatever your relationship status or interest in socializing, I hope you have a great Valentine’s Day and spend it safely!
