When putting together any outfit, I always must have denim involved. Denim has grown from being a simple staple to something I involve at any costs. Whether it be my custom bag, my bottoms, or a cool jacket or top, denim is a need for my day to day outfits.
My love for denim started when I was younger. I first got into sewing by taking old clothing and making something new for my Grandma. That was 11 years ago, and I still find value in what she taught me. I learned about being sustainable, using what I have, and how to repurpose things for what I need.

But as I’ve grown in the fashion department, my professors and peers have all commented about having a niche, a thing that separates you as a designer. I’ve found that denim truly is what I do, it’s become my identity. Finding new ways to use denim and further elevate it for different styles is always a fun adventure for me. I love being able to expand on my current knowledge and bring something new and fun.

If you ever get the chance, I think everyone should look deeper into their clothing. Maybe you have a favorite fabric, or maybe you want to experiment with upcycling and creating that connection emotionally with your clothing. If that connection exists, you’re less likely to get rid of it. That’s what I do with my denim, since it’s mainly old pants I can no longer wear. I made it something super cool and custom to me!
