Halloween Makeup

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Jefferson chapter.

Halloween strikes my creative side when it comes to makeup, so I decided to play with a couple ideas that I got from inspiration online. I was inspired by Desi Perkin’s makeup tutorial that was “Melting Skull” tutorial, and decided to do something similar!

I started off by using black liner (anything from the drugstore is fine) and drawing dripping lines down my face. Part of my face I put on my makeup how I regularly would, and then the other part I made look like a skull. The interesting part of this makeup tutorial (that makes it scarier and cooler) is that the goal is to make your skin look like it’s dripping into a skull.

It took me about two hours to do this, but it was fun and definitely worth it. In the video that Desi Perkin’s made, she used Mehron 3D Flesh-tone Gel to make the dripping skin more realistic. However, I didn’t have that, so I just used a mix of foundation and water to make my skin look like it was dripping down.

The makeup I used to make the skull was White and Black Grease Makeup that you can get at any local halloween store or online, but you want to make sure you have a black and white eyeshadow handy so you can set the grease makeup. If you don’t set it, it will melt off and crease!

The makeup took long, but that’s because I’m sort of a perfectionist. However, it was pretty easy and definitely something fun to try out for Halloween. If you spend a lot of time on your Halloween makeup then you won’t have to spend as much time picking out your outfit, or at least that’s my logic!
