Flashback Friday: VS Paris Fashion Show

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Jefferson chapter.

With Christmas just around the corner, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show aired on Monday night, giving lingerie addicts everywhere an idea of what they want under their tree. This year proved to be very entertaining with performances by Lady Gaga, The Weeknd, and Bruno Mars.

The theme of this year was revealed in an ad for the show titled: A Private Affair. Victorian masks, glittery tulle skirts and horse-drawn carriages hinted that the set at the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte, just outside of Paris, would give off a Marie Antoinette vibe.

The runway looks were separated into 6 different themes: The Road Ahead, Bright Night Angel, Secret Angel, Mountain Romance, Dark Angel and Pink Nation.

The Road Ahead:

These looks showcase bright, exotic colors inspired by Chinese culture. Check out those boots!

Bright Night Angel:

Josephine Skriver models this year’s “Swarovski Look”. According to InStyle, it features over 450,000 individual Swarovski crystals, with 3,000 strands of crystal fringe on each sleeve.

Secret Angel:

This James Bond theme featured all models wearing thigh high black latex boots. Love the trench coat!

Dark Angel:

The looks for this theme give an air of mystery. Different lace detailing and cutouts make this collection unique.

Mountain Romance:

Extravagant floral designs and embroidery decorate these beautiful looks inspired by mountain landscapes.

 Pink Nation:

Pink Nation falls into the loungewear/fitness category. These pink bow wings were one of my favorite looks!

Overall, this year’s fashion show was a huge success. From The Weeknd serenading ex-gf, Bella Hadid to Lady Gaga performing in sky-high heels, this show did not disappoint. And who could forget Bruno Mars’ flawless performance of 24K Magic? As an aspiring lingerie designer, it would be a dream to construct a look for this show. I’ll definitely be tuning in December 2017, although it will be hard to top. Until next year, VS.
