Dear Her Campus at Jefferson,

After four incredible years, it is almost time for me to say goodbye. My last event is over. My last article is now.

Each year, Her Campus has shaped me. It introduced me to the most incredible women and gave me a community. I remember going up to the Her Campus table at the involvement fair during my first month of college. I timidly wrote my name down and emailed the leaders. I tried (and succeeded) to join the board as a freshman, taking on my first design role in college, even before design classes began.

I wrote, I designed, and I went to meetings. I took on more responsibilities every year, and grew closer to the members of our chapter. I pitched events, and recruited my friends. All the while, time was passing and I was growing into a more confident woman and leader.

Now, this year, being able to lead this chapter has definitely been my favorite. I watched our community double, then triple, then just keep growing. First, our board bonded, and I truly looked forward to talking to them every other week. Then, our chapter bonded, and I knew every name and every face. After every meeting, every event, I would come home and gush about how everyone was so engaged and happy to be there. How exciting it was to talk to a full room after being part of a small chapter for the first few years.

Her Campus at Jefferson has made me a leader. A community member. A designer. A writer. A woman ready to enter the world and take it on.

Our new members are passionate and eager about our chapter, its mission, and its success. I see the underclassman I was in them, and I know that Her Campus at Jefferson is going to thrive in their hands. I can’t wait to watch our chapter grow and cheer it on from the sidelines.

So, Her Campus at Jefferson, I love you and thank you for everything.

In addition to writing articles, Emma works to manage the chapter’s goals and operations with the support of an amazing executive board. She loves being able to be heavily involved in her chapter, from recruitment to editing, and everything in between!

Emma is currently a senior at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, majoring in Visual Communication Design with a concentration in Graphic Design. Outside of Her Campus, Emma serves as Communications Director for AIGA Jefferson, a student chapter of AIGA, The Professional Organization for Design. In this role, Emma has been able to learn more about social media engagement and communication with organization members while exploring her passion for design.

In her free time, Emma’s interests include books, photography, crochet, and guitar - essentially anything that lets her use her creativity and imagination. When she is not flexing her creative muscles or burying her nose in a book, Emma can be found tending to her jungle of houseplants.
