Chocolate bar reviews

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Jefferson chapter.

Ever since February when it was Valentine’s day my friend and I have been on a chocolate bar craze. Chocolate is my go-to pick me up for when I am having a tough time in school, experiencing a super stressful conflict, or just having a super bland and average day. I know it doesn’t seem like it would have that much of an impact, but my mood really did improve when I would have a little piece of a chocolate bar at the end of my dinner. Grabbing a chocolate bar off the shelf at the store is something everyone should do once in a while because it is the simplest form of self-care. With that being said, I have unintentionally tried a lot of different chocolate bars over the course of three months, so here are my reviews on them, ranked from my favorite to least favorite.

Lindt Classic Recipe Milk Chocolate

This was the chocolate bar that started my chocolate craze… so you already know it had to be good. I’m a milk chocolate gal through and through and cannot be convinced otherwise. I don’t care that dark chocolate is “healthier”, I’ll always fall back on good old fashioned milk chocolate. This bar is pretty big, and it just melts in your mouth!

Whole Foods Market Organic Milk Chocolate

Whole Foods Market Organic Milk Chocolate

I was a little skeptical to get a chocolate bar from whole foods and to be honest I thought this was going to taste bad. It has 38% pure cacao, so I was afraid it was going to be bitter, but it wasn’t at all, and I felt healthier eating this one because it came from whole foods and their mantra promotes all healthy eating and natural products. The only thing I don’t love about this chocolate bar is the price; I don’t think my chocolate craving is strong enough to be spending $3 every week.

Chocolove Milk Chocolate

This chocolate bar was also from whole foods, so I didn’t feel guilty eating this one either. It had 33% cacao. I liked it, but it was kind of hard and the pieces were a bit too thick for me. The wrapper had a very nice poem inside of it which I was not expecting and that poem single handedly outdid every man I’ve ever spoken to.

Lily’s Creamy milk chocolate

This brand is definitely my least favorite and has awoken a hatred for stevia that I didn’t know I had. I honestly think this bar was a catfish because the wrapper was nice and the bar was not good at all. Super bitter and not rich but I don’t really know what I was expecting from a keto friendly chocolate bar.

Price: $3.49

Lily’s Salted Caramel Milk Chocolate

Following the Lily’s saga, I didn’t get just one bar when I decided to try this brand…I got two. This one was a little better than the milk chocolate one but still nothing special especially for the insane price. I think this brand is trying to sell an image rather than a chocolate bar but to each their own (sorry if you like Lilly’s!)
