Behind the Mask: Phil the Ram

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Jefferson chapter.

Hi, how are you today?

GREAT! I love this time of year because it means basketball!! I’m gearing up for the season right now. I’m hitting the gym, practicing jumping around in large crowds, and just finished ironing my uniform.

So, you’re pretty excited for the season to start?

Absolutely! I felt a little weird at first about it, because of the new uniform change, but the color looks great on me and now I love it! Ram Madness was just what I needed to get back into the zone. I can’t wait to start going to the games again and pumping up the audience. Go Rams!

What’s the best part of your job?

I love interacting with the crowd, especially the kids. Honestly though, my favorite part is probably all the pictures that get taken of me. I’m very photogenic.

How do you feel about Halloween? My favorite holiday! Sometimes it can be a little weird being a giant walking ram, but Halloween is the one day of the year that everyone dresses up and I can finally go out with my friends and actually blend into the crowd. It’s fun being a normal person for one day a year!

Are you going to dress up at all?

I wanted to try and be Pennywise, but every red wig I tried to buy wouldn’t fit over my horns. I think I’ll just wear my Jack O’Lantern t-shirt instead of my Ram one.

What are your Halloween plans? Hang out with my friends and maybe head to Terror Behind the Walls. I haven’t been yet this year, but I’m so scared! I’m not good at haunted houses, but everyone else wants to go so I’m going to try. After that I think we’re going to hit up Manayunk. Can’t wait!
