ASMR stands for autonomous sensory meridian response and it describes that tingly feeling you get when you hear or see something strangely satisfying. ASMR videos are all over social media and there are people who take it very seriously. On Instagram, there are entire pages dedicated to making videos that stimulate those responses. Here are some of the most popular and weirdly satisfying video trends and the accounts you can find them on.
Frozen Paint – annettelabedski
These are my favorite guilty pleasure videos. I love watching the hardened paint come out of the molds and get chopped up. The best is at the end once it’s all mixed together it has this really cool flakey texture look to it. Annette also has cool videos where she reverses it so you can watch the paint reform into a skull, mermaid tail, oreo, or whatever other cool mold she chooses to use.
Slime – slimestrawberries
There are a million slime accounts on Instagram, but this one is one of my favorites. They have a good variety of floam, iceburg, and fishbowl slime. They make their own and they sell them through the link in their bio.
Wax Melting –crafts.feed
This account actually has a variety of videos, they don’t just focus on wax, but they have really cool wax pouring videos where they will stamp it with a seal, leaving the imprint on the wax. That, and calligraphy, make up most of their content.
Hydrolaulic Press – hydraulic_press_best
I don’t know what it is about watching things get crushed, but it’s awesome. This account combines all the best hydraulic press videos from different YouTube channels into one place. If you can imagine it, they’ve crushed it. From toys to food to office equipment. There’s just something really satisfying about watching things get slowly destroyed.
Doll Painting – welovetheroyaldolls
I discovered this account very recently, and while it may not fall under the category of ASMR, it’s still weirdly satisfying. This artist takes old Barbie heads and shaves their head, wipes off their faces, and repaints them. Then, the dolls are given beautiful realistic hair that looks better than mine ever will. They always turn out looking way better than the original and the process is so interesting. They were even featured in Vogue.
Pancake Art – pancakeart.vids
Pancake art is along the same lines as cookie and cake icing. It’s just cool to watch talented people create things with food. The best thing for me about the pancake art is after they’ve done the minute details in the beginning, they fill it in with all the batter. It’s extremely satisfying.
