If you are a college student who likes to travel but is on a budget, this is for you! Here are the top 10 locations to travel for broke college students (once the world opens up again)!

Ecuador

Ecuador may not be a traveler’s first choice; however, it is very budget-friendly trip. There, a basic lunch meal is around $3 or more, and a night stay is up to $7. There are beautiful beaches, places to sight-see, and is a great place to work on Spanish skills. A must do is visiting the Galapagos Island. Looking for adventure or beach vacations, visit: Baños – hike to the waterfalls, do mountain biking, or water sports, Tena – jungle excursions in the Amazon, Salina – small beach towns and villages. 

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is an easy trip because flights aren’t long or expensive. Because it is a U.S. territory, passports are not required. There are many student-friendly hotels that can be as cheap as $15 per night. There you can enjoy a fun part scene with other friends and tourists. A must do is walk over La Plaza del Mercado in Santurce.

Arenal Area, Costa Rica

Costa Rica is a great destination for college students. The prices are low, and it is packed with great adventure opportunities. The flight is pretty cheap, and the exchange rate makes this trip worth it. 

Thailand

Thailand has a long list of alluring destinations. It gives a little warmth and sunshine. There are a lot of adventure sport opportunities and you can get a guide company. Laos is a great international vacation spot. Although it can be a little expensive, you can keep a budget of around $30/day. It offers many cheap activities. Somethings to do is see waterfalls, full day tubing, and tiger balm massages. You can rent a motorbike for cheap to travel around.

Indonesia

Indonesia can be really cheap, however, it can also get expensive depending on time of year, transportation, etc. There is a lot to do and see. Although you can choose to travel between islands, sticking to one country is cheaper plus you can explore it deeper. 

Mexico

Mexico is full of endless adventures and is a country filled with culture, nature, and a lot to enjoy. There are plenty of safe places to go and explore. It is easy to travel to Mexico on a budget, for about $20. There is many amazing food you can get for pretty cheap. If you enjoy beaches, nature, and adventure. This is definitely for you. 

Albania

Albania is a cheap place to travel to in Europe. There are many amazing beaches to visit. You can enjoy some sunshine and relaxation as well as traditional food. There is more to Albania than beautiful beaches. You can enjoy mountains, lakes/rivers, forests, and ancient towns. 

Egypt

Egypt is also a great place to visit as it has many touristy locations but is also filled with beautiful historical places. Boat travel is a great way to travel whether it’s a simple boat ride at night or to travel from cities such as Luxor to Aswan. It is important to remember that it does get hot over the summer, so plan accordingly. There are many beautiful beaches and a lot of activities to do in Egypt for a relatively good price. However, prices do get expensive.

Bolivia

Bolivia is a great location that is affordable to college students. However, a plane ticket may get expensive. However, once you arrive there is a lot to do on a budget. One extreme adventure you can do is bike across the North Yungas Road, which is also known as “Death Road”. Another thing to do is visit Salar de Uyuni, which is a landscape of salt for as far as the eye can see. Experience the rainforests and the Laguna Colorada. You will definitely get in your time with nature.
