Whether you’re all about fall or count down the days till Christmas, you should know when, exactly, is the perfect time to decorate your home (or in our case, dorm) for the holidays!

I don’t know about you, but I’m always ready for holiday tunes, gingerbread men and a beautifully decorated Christmas tree. When a radio station plays “All I Want for Christmas” by Mariah Carey for the first time, my mind enters full-on Santa Claus mode. There’s no raining on my holiday parade!

However, as much as I love Christmas, I am a firm believer that Thanksgiving shouldn’t be overshadowed by tinsel, candy canes and Black Friday shopping. I mean, why would you spend hours waiting in line surrounded by strangers when you could be spending quality time with your family and eating mashed potatoes?

Now, I know everyone has their different traditions, but I don’t think you should ditch your family members and loved ones for a TV that’s on sale. Is it really worth it? Even if your grandma’s homemade pumpkin pie is waiting for you at the Thanksgiving dinner table?

Rant over.

I believe that everyone should enjoy their Thanksgiving by spending time with their families, sharing stories from previous years and treating themselves to an extra slice of pie. Once turkey day ends, however, Christmas music and decorations are unavoidable!

Personally, I think the day after Thanksgiving is the perfect time to decorate your home (or dorm) for Christmas! Don’t be afraid to use an extra string of lights, make a few too many gingerbread houses or binge watch the Hallmark channel!

Christmas only comes around once a year, so break out your Santa hats and take advantage of Starbucks’ holiday drinks once turkey day comes to an end!

However, I may have broken the Starbucks rule once or twice already…
