The Ultimate Fall Bucket List in Cleveland

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JCU chapter.

It’s finally fall time here in Cleveland, and what does that mean? The leaves are changing colors, the temperature gets cooler, and there’s only a couple more weeks of nice weather before we have to deal with the dreaded Cleveland winter. So to help you soak up the last bit of nice and enjoyable weather, here are some must-do activities in Cleveland for this fall!

1. Patterson’s Fruit Farm:

Located in Chesterland, OH, Patterson’s is a short drive to the epitome of a fall day. There is nothing better than riding the hay wagon through the farm, picking beautifully crisp apples, getting lost in the corn maze for hours, eating delicious homemade donuts, and picking out the perfect pumpkins for carving. This family-run farm is the perfect stop for all families and friends.

2. Cedar Point:

Who doesn’t love a good ‘ole fright from Cedar Point’s Halloweekends? Halloweekends provide a plethora of fun activities to do like: countless number of mazes, haunted houses, and shows. The lines can get long, so plan to spend a whole day at the site of America’s best roller coasters, but I don’t think you’ll have any trouble doing that.

3. Go to a Brown’s Game:

There’s nothing that represents fall time more than sunday football games. No matter how bad the Browns are, you know you love them. You can find cheap tickets to enjoy a game with friends and family, who cares what the score is if you’re having fun, right?  And don’t worry, Progressive Field is just a couple blocks away if you want to catch a game of our first place baseball team and take a break from the Browns!

4. Hiking:

From the Cleveland Metroparks to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, there are dozens of trails to choose from with all different difficulty levels. Take a relaxing walk and enjoy the view that is Cleveland in the fall because it won’t be here for much longer.

5. Haunted Houses:

If you want a real spook, check out all the local haunted houses, especially “Seven Floors of Hell” located in Middleburg Heights. The haunted house is ranked the 13th best haunted house in the world! Or drive a little south and try a paranormal tour from Perkins Stone Mansion in Akron.

6. Maria’s Field of Hope:

Right off exit 155 along I-90 in Avon is a 50-acre sunflower field. The field was originally planted in 2014 to raise awareness for the lack of funding for childhood cancer. It was inspired by Maria McNamara, who passed away from a glioma, the deadliest form of brain tumor, at the age of seven. Along the path of sunflowers are signs for other children who passed away from childhood cancer. Visit the field to take in the beauty and pay your respects to those who lost their lives too soon. The field takes donations and 100 percent of the money goes to funding for childhood gliomas. If you cannot make it to the field, you can donate at: https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/WebLink.aspx?name=E201869&id=1&formid=15&Preview=true .
