We decided to start off the semester by interviewing a returning John Carroll student! Keep reading to find out more about her!
Name: Carly Cundiff
Year: Junior
Hometown: Wadsworth, OH
Major: Education/English
Favorite spot on campus: The Carroll Newsroom
Best John Carroll memory: The very first week of my freshman year, the friends I had made during Streak Week went to Pizzazz for dinner. We all put our phones in the middle of the table so that we didn’t have any distractions, and then we just talked. Two years later, the same people I ate with that day are now my closest friends on campus!
Campus involvement: Managing Editor of the Carroll News, Vice President of the Society of Professional Journalists, Resident Assistant in Murphy Hall, Arrupe Scholars Program.
What made you decide to join The Carroll News? I was involved my high school’s newspaper, and I fell in love with journalism. As soon as I heard that John Carroll had such an awesome newspaper, I knew that I had to join. I went to the first meeting, and the rest is history!
Can we expect anything new/different from the newspaper this year? We hope to expand our campus section so that we are able to cover more news that is important to JCU students. We are also working on getting a bigger social media prescence, including possibly live streaming lectures and other programs so that students who cannot be present at the actual event can still see it. What should students know about The Carroll News? It’s actually really fun! Whenever we edit we have a ton of food and watch TV and talk. It doesn’t seem like work because we are constantly laughing.
