Get to Know Hunter Horning

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JCU chapter.

Name: Hunter Horning

Year: Junior

Major: Finance and Economics

Hometown: Rootstown, Ohio

What are you involved in on campus?

I am in a Fraternity (Sigma Phi Epsilon), The Finance Association, and The Investment Banking Club.

What has been your favorite JCU experience so far?

Studying abroad in London. I loved my study abroad experience because it was first time out of the country. Although it was in London and not too culturally different relative to the U.S., I still had the opportunities to see and do things many people don’t get to. For example, I stayed in the center of the city for a month. That was especially exciting for me since I’m from a pretty rural part of Ohio.

If you could change one thing about your JCU experience, what would it be?

I would move JCU to the beach. Who wouldn’t want to go to school on the beach? You could go to class in the mornings and them hang out at the ocean in the afternoons. College life would become vacation life!

What’s your favorite spot off campus?

Barrio, of course!

What’s one issue you advocate for?

Just overall equality. I believe it is wrong that some people are treated differently than others.

What’s a book or movie that you recommend to everyone?

My favorite book: Learn and Grow Rich.

What big ticket item would you splurge on if money wasn’t an issue?

I would buy a big house on a big hill.

What is your plan for after graduation?

I want to go into investment banking. I’ve wanted to go into investment banking since I was a freshman. I love the idea of helping companies raise capital or conduct a merger to expand their business. I am just intrigued by the complexities and wherewithal that comes with the industry.
