The Dollar Tree Essentials You Need

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JCU chapter.

I love the Dollar Tree. It’s probably one of my favorite stores. It has everything and anything you could want- well, almost. The best part? Everything is only 1$. I decided to compile my favorite list of D-Tree essentials for every college girl.

Beauty & Health:

  • Yes To….Face Masks

There is a variety of the “Yes To” face masks like: Tomato Acne-Fighting Paper Masks, Charcoal Powder-to-Clay Masks, Grapefruit Overnight Masks, Cotton Soothing Mud Mask, and many others. These are a bargain compared to Target or beauty stores that can charge upwards of 3$ for 1.

  • Loofahs
  • Face Cleansing Exfoliators

They are 2 for 1$ and are similar to Sephora’s Precision Pore Cleansing Pad which is 6$.

  • Dove Bar Soap
    • (No explanation needed-we’ve all seen the commercials)
  • Nivea Soft Cream

                                                                                                 Courtesy: Target

  • Cotton Rounds
    • These are a beauty essential. Cotton rounds are nice for applying toner, taking off nail polish, and have countless other uses.
  • Dove Quick Dry Spray Deodorant
    • (Perfect for sleeveless tops this summer)
  • Palmer’s Coco Butter Lip Balm

                                                                                           Courtesy: Amazon

It’s around 2$ less than at Walmart or drug stores.

Dollar Tree also has name brand pain relievers and vitamins like: Aleve, Excedrin, Tylenol, Advil, and Airborne Immune Support.

Entertainment:

  • “Paper Towns”- John Green’s best seller comes to life in the film adaptation. It stars model Cara Delevingne and actor Nat Wolff. A steal for only 1$.
  • “Palo Alto”- Based on a book of short stories by James Franco, Palo Alto surrounds the lives of teens in California. It also stars Nat Wolff (I love him), Emma Roberts, and James Franco himself. This independent film is hard to find on streaming websites and is expensive to buy online.

Food & Drink:

  • Jif-to-Go (3 for 1$)

  • Azul Coconut Water
  • Wonderful Pistachios Snack Packs
  • La Croix 1 Liter Bottles

                                                                                                      Courtesy: Amazon

  • The Snack Factory Pretzel Thins

Home:

  • Velvet-lined Hangers
    • These hangers are perfect for those slippery tops and dresses that just can’t stay put. You can buy a pack of these for just a buck.
  • Air Wick Stick Ups

                                                                                                   Courtesy: Amazon

(Explanation? Have you even been in Milor during May or August? Enough said.

  • Organizational Boxes

                                                                                               Courtesy: Dollar Tree

These boxes, which come in different sizes and colors, are the perfect way to organize your desk/closet/bathroom. They cost peanuts compared to most stores.

If you haven’t been to the Cedar Center D-Tree, I’d highly recommend it.
