A Definitive Ranking of Every Animated, Theatrically-Released Disney Movie

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JCU chapter.

Three years ago, I made it my mission in life to watch every single animated, theatrically-released Disney movie. At that time, the number was 53; now it is 56. I watched them all, and I watched them all in order (almost – Dinosaur got bumped to the end because there was only one copy in the entire Clevnet library system). So from Snow White (the first one, which came out in 1937) to Moana, the most recent, I have seen all of them. Personally, I feel that this endeavor is the most important thing I have ever done. And since I spent roughly 84 hours of my life watching these movies, I made this list so that you, my friend, don’t have to go through that process. Lemme tell you, some of them were really really bad. But that’s a different story–for now, please enjoy this list because I deliberated over this ranking for AWHILE.

Note: The movies here are ranked largely on my opinion, but I also took into account critical acclaim, the soundtrack, whether or not it’s aged well, its legacy, and its importance in terms of diversity.

One more note: This list does include every Disney movie that is animated and theatrically-released, I promise. If you think I’m missing one or that one shouldn’t be on here, I’m sorry but you are wrong. This is all of them. Trust me.
