  1. The Little Book of Feminist Saints by Julia Pierpont- I love collections like this, and already own a couple, like Rejected Princesses by Jason Porath. The difference here is that this one focuses on anecdotes from the lives of women like Frida Kahlo, Michelle Obama, and Queen Elizabeth I. I’m always in for female empowerment and awesomeness, so this one is definitely on my list.

  2. Forest of a Thousand Lanterns by Julie C. Dao- The synopsis for this one presents it as an Evil Queen origin story (think Snow White-esque), but set in a world inspired by East Asian fantasy. First off, sign me up for any and all fairytale related books. Secondly, this looks like an awesome own-voices fantasy! It sounds dark, enchanting, and totally up my alley.

  3. Spellbook of the Lost and Found by Moïra Fowley-Doyle- I really enjoyed The Accident Season, which I read about a year ago. It tackled some tough subjects, but the writing was really beautiful. I like the sound of Spellbook of the Lost and Found, and would love to read more of Fowley-Doyle’s writing.

  4. The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee- This one is supposed to be laugh-out-loud funny, and full of fun YA tropes. It’s been on my to-read list for a while, and I would love to get it for Christmas. Historical comedy, and great LGBTQ representation makes this one a definite yes for me.

  5. Ghostly Echoes by William Ritter- I loved William Ritter’s Jackaby series way more than I thought I would. The first two books were funny, engaging, and unique. Supernatural mystery solving by a likable heroine and her cast of friends. I’m so ready to read number three (and four, for that matter). My library hasn’t gotten its hands on Ghostly Echoes yet, so I would love to add it to my collection.

  6. The Reader by Traci Chee- Obviously, I love reading, and books about reading are so interesting. Sometimes it creates a weird Inception-y feel, but that’s all part of the fun. The Reader’s synopsis includes mystery, pirates, kidnapping, and murder, just to name a few elements. It sounds exciting, original, and is all about a book. Sign me up!

I could keep going forever, my to-be-read list is longer than Santa’s Christmas list, but I’ll stop with these for now. Hopefully this got you thinking about what you’d like to add to your library this Christmas!
