6 Reasons to Watch the Super Bowl Even If You Don’t Like Football

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at JCU chapter.

Okay, so not everyone is into football, but let’s be honest, Super Bowl Sunday is definitely a national holiday. If you want to get into the holiday spirit, but don’t know (or frankly, care) what a dime back is, fear not! You don’t have to like or know everything about football to take part in sporty festivities!

1. Katy Perry is performing at the halftime show!

She’s even leaked the song she’s planning to perform! She tweeted this video of what her fans can expect to bless their ears at halftime.…Okay, that’s totally a joke. Seriously though, Katy Perry is adorable and she knows how to put on a great show.

2. You can host a Super Bowl party with fun snacks!

Chips and salsa, chips and queso, chips and guacamole… Just get tons of chips and you’re set. Or, if you can all bring your receipts to Chipotle from when you went and got sofritas on Monday, and you can get free burritos. Or, everyone can chip in a few bucks to order a pizza. However you want to do it, you can just eat throughout the entire game so you don’t have to pay attention. Just cheer when everyone else cheers.

3. You can wear a football jersey and look totally cute.

Bonus points if you borrow one from one of your guy friends, because a.) you don’t have to buy one, and b.) it’ll be way too big and super comfy.

4. The commercials are hilarious.

Remember this gem from last year?

5. When else are you going to want to try this awesome mani?

6. If none of that appeals to you, at least watch the Puppy Bowl.

Puppy Bowl XI will be broadcasted on Sunday, Feb. 1st at 3:00/2:00c.

Here’s the link to this year’s lineup, pregame show, and highlights. This is a fool-proof way to impress your friends, because even if you don’t know a thing about football, you know all about puppies.
