Dress for the weather, don’t let the weather dress you.
It’s that time of year again: the leaves have changed color, the forecast says snow, and people are breaking out their heaviest coats. Around this time, midterms are stealing your last bit of joy and you’re satisfied with wearing pajama bottoms to class. I get it.
Just because the weather is getting dreary doesn’t mean your wardrobe has to be, too. You can be warm and comfy and remain fashionable! Below are a few looks for your want-to-stay-in-bed-days.
1. The Comfy College Kid
When you don’t feel like strategically coordinating an outfit for the day, show off your school spirit with a college sweatshirt or jacket. On those rainy, snowy days, pair rain boots with leggings and your college sweatshirt. Top it off with light make-up and a messy or tight bun (whichever you prefer). This look will do three things: keep you comfy, keep you warm, and show off your school spirit.
2. Warm and Fashion Forward
If you’re like me, you hate to let a dreary day halt your fashion sense. Whether it’s rain or snow, you have a cute outfit to wear and nothing’s going to stop you from wearing it! On these days, wear a nice pair of skinny jeans. Pair the jeans with a long sleeved sweater and a faux fur vest. Let your hair down and wear light make-up. Top it all off with a pair of knee-high boots. Sit pretty and comfy all day in this warm, trendy outfit.
3. Dress to Impress
When you look good, you feel good. On those days, when the weather and classes are putting a damper on your mood, go for your girliest look. Break out a dress (only slightly above knee length) and pair it with a pair of opaque stockings. Wear this pretty outfit with ankle-high boots and either rock an up-do or let your hair down. You can even throw on a blazer if you’re feeling fancy! If you’re feeling really trendy, you can top off the outfit with a bowler hat!
With all of these looks, don’t forget to wear your coat, scarf, and gloves. No one wants to get sick!
The semester is already more than half way through and I know the desire to dress nicely has worn off, but hang in there and stay warm and comfy all while staying trendy. Dress for the weather, but don’t let it boss you around!
