Picture this: It’s the weekend and a lot of us college girls are getting dressed to go out. We put on our heels, dresses, makeup and make sure we’re on point. Now let’s face it ladies even though we want to look good for us, we do this whole process for attention and we want to make sure we’re sexy. Well keep in mind that there is sexy and then there is slutty! How do I know this? News flash- Men talk!
The same way you sit with your girls and talk about them, they do the exact same thing and talk about you, and many believe there is a very thin line between what is sexy and what is just plain slutty.
For instance, while having a conversation with a male friend outside a building on campus, he pointed out a handful of girls to me, the majority of which he called a form of a slut. Because of him I just had to know what’s the different between a woman that looks sexy and a woman that looks slutty.
Just like there are three sides to every truth, there are also three sides to every definition. Formally, a slut is someone who is sexually promiscuous or has loose sexual morals. This isn’t a relatively new definition, the term’s been used since 1492 according to Online Etymology Dictionary. While on the other hand the term sexy is used to describe a sexually appealing person or thing.
To some people these formal definitions might seem straight forward but they’re different in the views of men and women. So as females, we know what our sexy is, we know what a slut is when we see one but what does a man find different?

Some men such as Terrel B*says there isn’t a difference between sexy and slutty. According to him it’s the same thing.
“Whenever I go out and see a chick I don’t go out and see her personality. I see that she looks good. Sexy is slutty and slutty is sexy,” Terrel said.
The men I spoke to were asked to be honest, blunt and not to hold anything back. Dom W. even went as far as to say that the term sexy wasn’t a compliment.
“What separates sexy and slutty in a man’s eyes vary from guy to guy. Honestly in my opinion the word sexy is just a polite way of saying slutty. Honestly, I believe personally sexy doesn’t do females the proper justice. If a woman looks nice is it really too old fashioned to tell her she looks beautiful? Is it not manly to say she is cute? The word sexy has sex at the root which says something slutty. It’s just what you get is what you see, there is no chase nothing left to desire,” he said.
So we know that every man thinks differently, same as every female yet the more the guys I spoke with talked, the m

nd alike in order to give a concise definition.
“I think a slutty woman is someone who don’t respect themselves and sleep with anyone she meets. A sexy
woman is someone who can look at themselves in the mirror, that may wear slutty clothes or talk to a lot of guys but still has her integrity,” Kevin C. said.
Some men gave a nice drawn out explanation. J. Mack got straight to the point.
“Sexy is a persona, slutty is an appearance,” he said.
So ladies we are back to it being the weekend. So, what’s our goal for tonight? Is it sexy or slutty? Are you trying to look good or get laid? Based on the majority of men that I talked to looking slutty is the equivalent of wanting to get laid or showing a lack of self-confidence.
Hermann A. breaks it down like this:
“{A slutty female} mainly gives into urges easily which are often sexual. She has no class and just plain nasty. There’s a reason why a double standard exists when it comes to boys who have a lot of sex. P***y and a girl’s attention is a lot harder to get while getting d**k and dudes attention is easy. A slut knows it’s easy and she gives too much into her urges. A bad {chick} is somebody with a banging body who I would love to smash and maybe that’s all I would do with her. But a woman who I’m attracted to but in love with her mind and character even more. She blows me away with her ambition and grace and most of all she knows what she wants.”
As females, we look at the girls that we perceive as sluts and in a way call them out. We look at ourselves and think sexy. Sorry ladies, but one gentleman actually gave a rundown of how a slutty girl looks. If this is you think again and consider some wardrobe changes.
“A slutty female gets dressed for the attention. She will buy heels that she can’t walk in and a tight freakem dress. She goes overboard and goes for the dress that shows extra cleavage and makes her a** look extra fat,” Poe E. explained.
Based on my understanding of what the men said the difference between a slutty woman and a sexy woman isn’t just the looks. It’s how you act and what you’re comfortable in. It’s more than just the tight dress because if you’re comfortable in the tight dress they’ll see your confidence which is the type of person they want. It’s not just about whether you can walk in heels or not but let’s face it, if you’re putting on heels and know you can’t walk in them, then obviously you’re not confident in them.
In the end the lesson to be learned from these guys is that sexy is a persona while slutty is an appearance. So ladies, dress accordingly.
