2012 was a record-breaking year at the movie box office, with cash-cow blockbusters like The Avengers and The Hunger Games and critics’ favorites like Zero Dark Thirty and Beats of the Southern Wild. By the looks of things 2013 will be an epic year for the box office. This year is full of action with movies like The Wolverine, Iron Man 3, Fast and Furious 6, Man of Steel and so much more! I compiled a list of the ‘Top 10 Movies’ that you will not want to miss this year!

“42” (April 12)

42 is a biographical film about the life of legendary baseball player Jackie Robinson. The film tells the story of Jackie Robinson and his personal trials and tribulations and the struggles of being the first African-American player to break the baseball color line.

“Pain and Gain” (April 26)

Ladies, this is a film that you will not want to miss whatsoever! Mark Wahlberg, Anthony Mackie, Dwayne Johnson and their muscles star in this action packed film, which is based on a true story from the 90’s. It is about a trio of bodybuilders who plot to kidnap and rob a dirty businessman that is a regular at the gym they are employed at.

“The Great Gatsby” (May 10)

For all you Leonardo DiCaprio fans, an adaptation  of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 1925 novel, The Great Gatsby will be here this spring. The film follows the life of millionaire Jay Gatsby and his neighbor Nick, who recounts his encounter with Gatsby at the height of the 20s.

“Only God Forgives” (May 23)

Ryan Gosling stars as Julian in this thrilling crime as a drug smuggling operator who is forced by his mother to find and kill whoever is responsible for the recent death of his brother. For all you fans of Fight Club and action movies, make sure to check it out.

“Hangover III” (Date TBD)

This is a movie that so many are anticipating this year! However, no one knows what the plot is. There’s no wedding. No bachelor party. But when the Wolf Pack gets together there is bound to trouble!

“This Is the End” (June 14)

James Franco, Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride and Craig Robinson star as fictional versions of themselves as their friendship is tested in the demise of a global apocalypse. I’m looking forward to seeing this film, because any movie that these folks are in such as Pineapple Express, Super Bad, Hot Tub Time Machine, and etc. I love!

“Monster’s University” (June 21)

I’m way too excited for Monsters University! The movie takes place ten years before the events of Monsters, Inc. Mike and Sulley are a part of the same fraternity, both majoring in scaring. They both become enemies in a rivalry that will tear their world apart but also bring them together.

“The Heat” (June 28)

The Heat stars Sandra Bullock as Sarah Ashburn, an uptight FBI agent who teams with a crazy, loose-cannon, bounty hunter Shannon Mullins played by Bridesmaids Melissa McCarthy to catch a Russian drug lord. Bullock and McCarthy are sure to bring the laughs in this buddy-cop film!

“Carrie” (October 18)

I’m pretty sure we’ve all seen Carrie (1974) and The Rage: Carrie 2 (1999) and maybe even the made-for-television version. However, there is a new is edition being released this fall about a shy high-school girl, who uses her newly telekinetic powers to seek revenge on those that tease her.

“Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues” (December 20)

This a movie that I have been waiting on! If you enjoy goofy movies like I do, you will like the sequel to Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. If you’ve been living under a rock and never seen Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy it is a hilarious take on 1970s Action News crew. There is not much known about the plot line, but you won’t want to miss it!
