Tips to Stay On Top of this Semester

stay organized

It can be impossible to get work done if you don’t know where to find it! Get organized with binders, folders, and notebooks. Write each class subject on said binder/folder/notebook so you can pick out what you need faster. Keep your work on your desk so that it’s visible and can’t be forgotten. I always find it helpful to set out which binders I need the night before, so in the morning I know what I’ll be focusing on that day.

Write assignments down for the week

It can be downright impossible trying to remember what class assigned what for the week- no matter how many times you check the syllabus. Get yourself a cute To-Do list sheet or a plain piece of notebook paper to write down what each class is expecting for the week and add due dates. Sometimes phone reminders can get looked over when we check our phones so often!

Print your schedule and syllabi

Don’t pretend you know your schedule already- if you do, no you don’t. Print your class schedule out with times, dates, and locations. Even better, print the syllabus for each class to look ahead at the semester and to keep track of what due dates are sneaking up on you!

Set reminders

I have used reminders on my phone since high school. Into college, I will say they have still been very useful, but I often start ignoring them after I hit “snooze” or “remind me later”. So don’t be like me and set 10 reminders for yourself- you will get overwhelmed and miss an important reminder.  Try out your phone’s default app or download a fancy app to make your assignment reminders cute!
