As a college student, I know the struggle. Penny pinching, counting meal swipes, and working as many hours as physically possible. You have to pay your college expenses, personal expenses, and miscellaneous expenses when what you really want to buy is a cute pair of shoes- I get it.
I have the perfect solution for those times when your lack of money is causing your wardrobe to suffer- thrifting! Below are three reasons to drop the high-priced boutiques and department stores and go to thrift shops!
1. You Never Know What You’re Going To Find
I am an avid thrift shopper/ bargainista. When I go into a thrift store I’m always surprised by the things I find. At first glance, thrift stores don’t look too promising, but if you take the time to sift through the racks you’ll definitely find some worth while items. From name brand belts to funky skirts, thrift shops offer so much variety.
2. You’ll Stand Out
Looking around, you can tell where every girl shops. Everyone looks similar, leggings, boots, hoodies etc. Thrift shops will guarantee that your closet will not look like anyone else’s. At a thrift shop, you can find unique items from vintage polka dot shorts to bowler hats! If you mix and match the things you find, you will end up with a fashionable and unique outfit.
3. Thrift Shops Are Easy On The Wallet
The best reason to go thrifting is simple- It’s cheap! The prices are more than affordable. Items that would typically cost an arm and a leg are practically a steal. Even though the prices are low, thrift shops still have sales- as if the entire store isn’t already practically a sale. Even household appliances like toasters, microwaves etc. suit a college student’s budget.
Times are hard. Pockets are getting tighter and tighter. Take that left over change from your many expenses and go thrifting! Upgrade and diversify your wardrobe in a more than affordable way.
