Spring Bling: Top Five Jewelry Trends for Spring

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at IUP chapter.

Do you have the winter blues and blahs?  Are you tired of the nasty weather and ready to spruce up your life?  Well, why not start off with some jewelry?  Sometimes the easiest and most inexpensive way to update your look for a new season is to simply add some new jewelry.  Some of the hottest pieces right now consist of big, statement necklaces with lots of color, bangle bracelets all the way up the wrist, and some gem-encrusted dangle earrings.

  1.  Mixed Metals

Tri-colored gold jewelry is an anchor of any spring jewelry collection.  It allows women to easily mix other yellow, rose and white gold pieces of jewelry together for cohesive looks.  Rose gold is one of the biggest trends right now.  It all started when Tom Cruise proposed to Katie Holmes on top of the Eiffel Tower with the rose gold, diamond ring.  We need to think simple and striking shapes in bold metal colors to get that new modern look. 1. Tribal Wear

Earthy tones and metal spikes are the new items on the fashion radar.  Ever leather fringe and animal prints are making a comeback.  Mother Nature has set her standards for the fashion world.  Think bold statement necklaces with some natural wooden decals.  If you are really daring, try a tribal spike necklace for some pop and flair. 1. Dangle Earrings

Do you ears hang low? Do they wobble to and fro?  We are all familiar with this common nursery rhyme, but it actually quite meaningful for this year’s earring trend.  “Whether you try dangling vintage looking pearls, crystal chandeliers or long flowing tassels, earrings this season are going to be nearly grazing your shoulders”, says writer Jillian Wood.  Vintage pieces are reappearing this season for that classic look.   (Buy the earrings shown, here

  1.  Dazzling Stones

The Red Carpet was full of striking stones this year.  Turquoise and Jade are the hot colors.  Even some reddish, orange stones are making an appearance. These type of stones can be seen on drop earrings and even large cuff bracelets. (Buy the bracelet shown, here)

  1.  Pretty in Punk

According to the Jewelers of America, “Thinking about punk accessories probably draws up images of leather and plaid, but a bit of hard edge in your jewelry can give you a bad ass look without making you seem scary.”  Large, heavy, metal chains are becoming the chic look.  They make a bold statement without pushing the punk level too far.
