Places to visit near IUP during spooky season

If you are anything like me, you love the fall festivities that come around every season. Here is a list of spooky places and activities you should consider checking out.

Scary Harry’s

Scary Harry’s Haunted trail is a short 17-minute drive from the IUP campus. Cost is $20 per person. Out of all the haunted houses I’ve been too, I was really impressed with the decorations of this haunted trail. I have gone all three years I’ve been at IUP. I highly recommend it.

Lonesome Valley Farms Valley of Terror

This offers haunted hayrides, a haunted house attraction, a regular walk-through corn maze, and even a haunted drive through. Costs can range from $30-$50. This is a little more of a drive, it’s about 59 minutes away from IUP in Greensburg, but it is definitely something worth hecking out.

Kennywood

If you are from the Pittsburgh area, you definitely know what Kennywood is. But just in case you’re not, Kennywood is an amusement park with some of the oldest rollercoasters in PA. During October, Kennywood has Phantom Fall Fest where you can ride rollercoasters and go through their themed haunted houses and scare zones. It’s about $35 per person. This is also a little longer of a drive ranging up to an hour and 20 minutes, but I would say it’s really worth it.

Ok, if you are not into scary things there are still some other options for you!

Reeger’s farm

Reeger’s farm has a little corn maze that you are given paper to do a little scavenger hunt. It also has a hayride you can take down to their own pumpkin patch where you and friends can pick out your own pumpkin. There’s also other smaller attractions like a petting zoo, pumpkin cannon, paintball target practice, and even a small food stand. To do all the activities, it is about $17 (not including pumpkin prices). A bonus too is that it is only 15 minutes from campus.
