I never thought I would get a tattoo in my life. I’ve always been a wiener when it comes to pain. Little did I know I would be standing outside of a tattoo shop in Leechburg, Pennsylvania getting my first ever tattoo on the shops busiest day of the year! Okay, okay So I did know. I planned it, of course, but I was so nervous up until that point. So every year, Leechburg holds an event called “Pink Day” when you can get tattoos for $40. All of the proceeds go to breast cancer research. My grandma and uncle died about two years ago both due to cancer so I wanted to get a tattoo for them (pictured below). So I thought, fall is the time people like to get tattoos the most why not share a couple that are small and have a huge meaning, like mine?
1. A sailboat
Alright, hear me out. It sounds really stupid but it looks so cute. The meaning of the sailboat would be keep moving on and just got with it. No matter where life takes you, there are going to be bumps on the way.
2. A paw print
As a mom of dogs and cats, I know that they put a paw print on my heart. Even this smallest tattoo can remind you of animals you’ve lost, or even still have and love dearly. This is something that can keep them close to your heart and warm your insides whenever you see it.

3. Compass
Compasses show people direction. This can mean a lot to somebody because they might have lost their direction at one point and gotten back on the right path. The compass can give someone a way to look at it and know that the path they have chosen is the right one.

4. Planets aligned
This gives you the hope that there is going to be a clear path. It also shows that there can be unity in bigger pictures. The planets give the sense that there are bigger things out there and you should let go of the small things that bother you.

5. Heartbeat
This shows that you’re still human. You’re still breathing and living. Nothing can change that but you and it shouldn’t be changed. This can also be taken from someone that you truly love so when you look at it you know that they will always be there with you in your hearts.

These are also good for friend tattoos because they can still mean something to you even if you don’t end up talking in the future. These can also be for those you love in remembrance or just to remind you they’re there or still there. Tattoos are big things and should not be done just because you want to fit in or look cool. This is something that’ll be on your body permanently. Remember, a tattoo will not fix your broken heart even from the loss of a loved one.
