I recently just binged the entire series on Jane the Virgin on Netflix. I know, I am a little late. I tried to watch it before, but I couldn’t get into it at first. It is one of those series that you have to invest, and you will get hooked. I am being honest here so I will tell you the bad parts first. This is my opinion so if you have a different point of view just agree to disagree. One major thing that I did not like about the show was the long parts. By that, I mean the filler sections of each show that are just there to use time. They would cut to her dad, Rogelio, and what he is doing in life. They would also put other characters into the scenes that weren’t always relevant.

Another thing I didn’t like was how many turns it took. The show is all about a Mexican soap opera with Jane as the star, but you don’t know that until the end. The show is all about a love triangle with murder, thrill, mystery, romance, and an amazing storyline of love, family, and choices. This show was so back and forth with the types of decisions being made. One person would die and suddenly come back randomly others were actually dead. It was hard to keep up with. However, at the end once you find out that the story was actually a telenovela then you realize that these dramatic turns were in a sense, necessary.

One thing I look for when watching Netflix series is the length. As a fulltime college student, I watch between stuff and at night (with barely any time). Therefore, I like 30–50-minute episodes. This series has 40–45-minute episodes so it is really convenient to watch a show and not have to leave in the middle or make a commitment with time. I also really appreciated the plot line. I have never seen such a show and the way it was executed was decadent. The romance was so real and raw. I also loved how much we saw the main characters grow and start families. It really allows you to enter the show and connect to it.

Overall, there are things that I didn’t like but it was a great show and there were more things that I liked that kept me hooked. I recommend this series to anyone with a heart of gold or who loves a good love story. Keep in mind there are 5 seasons and it is over so that is the commitment you would make.
