If you’re anything like me and love to listen to music, I’m sure you’ve gotten really obsessed with certain artists, songs, or even albums before. I tend to get in very specific moods that tailor what playlist I listen to, and I tend to focus on certain artists for a period of time. Since we are back to new-music Fridays, I thought I would share the current songs that are making up my “on repeat” playlist!
- So Green & Feel the rush: asha banks
-
One of my absolute favorite things is when I am able to find a small artist to support, and watch as they grow. One of my new-found favorites is Asha Banks. I watched her in the “A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder” over the summer, and have been following her since then. She recently released her second single, Feel The Rush and I am in love!! She has her very first EP ‘Untie My Tongue’ coming out on March 7th and I am beyond excited! I hope she becomes more popular, I think she is a fantastic artist and actress!
- vroom vroom: charli xcx
-
Okay.. I can’t really explain why I have been hyper-fixating on this song, but it puts me in a great mood. I love playing it in the shower, it truly is a vibe. I am not an avid Charli XCX listener, but I do enjoy most of her songs, so I may dabble into more of her discography.
- the water is fine: chloe ament
-
UGH I truly love everything about this song. Again, I can’t really explain it! I just love to blast this song when I am blocking out the world with my headphones on. I have also started to listen to her other music, and I highly recommend!
- indigo: Sam barber, avery anna
-
I can’t really explain why I love this song so much, but I do. It is one of my favorites to play when I have my headphones on and am blocking out the world. I feel like if you give it a listen, you’ll understand.
- sally, when the wine runs out: role model
-
Let’s be so for real.. I have been obsessed with Role Model’s music recently, and I was extremely excited when he released “Kansas Anymore (The Longest Goodbye)”. I truly love all the songs on the album, but my two favorites would definitely have to be Sally, When The Wine Runs Out and Writing’s On The Wall.
Overall, this album is a solid 10/10 for me!
- ribs: lorde
-
Some days you just need to stream Lorde’s music, specifically ‘Pure Heroine’ and ‘Melodrama’. If you would give her songs a listen, I bet you would recognize so many more than you realize, and they hit every time.
- labour – the cacophony: paris paloma
-
Go. Stream. This. Song. Right. Now. I promise you will not be disappointed. I truly love everything about this song, it has in fact been my hyper-fixation for about a year now!! I love Paris Paloma’s music, she deserves so much recognition, her songs and albums eat every time.
- catfish: doechii
-
Doechii is a literal icon, I can’t believe I didn’t really know of her and listen to her until recently. I am not one for rap music, but best believe I eat it up every time one of her songs comes on. If you saw her performance at the Grammy’s, you understand. I highly recommend listening to her music if you want to be put in a good mood, or even just to get hyped up, it is so worth it!
- All the stars: kendrick lamar, sza
-
Now don’t get me wrong, Kendrick Lamar absolutely ate up his Super Bowl half-time show, but I wish SZA made more of an appearance because I absolutely loveeeee her! Her most recent album ‘SOS Deluxe: LANA’ is literally so amazing and I have been listening to it on repeat recently. All The Stars is just one of the songs by both of these artists that I have been listening to very frequently.
- revolving door: tate mcrae
-
What can I say… you can’t spell Tate without ate. Her new album is SOOOOO good. She is just that girl, every time. No matter how old or new her music is, I always gravitate towards it, because I love it all. I also love her social media posts, I am an avid follower, it is very entertaining.
There are so many other songs and artists that I listen to, but these are my top 10 at the current moment. Here are some album recommendations that I will leave, in hopes that you enjoy!
- ‘So Close To What’ by Tate McRae
- ‘The Secret Of Us (Deluxe)’ by Gracie Abrams
- ‘Alligator Bites Never Heal’ by Doechii
- ‘Short n’ Sweet (Deluxe) by Sabrina Carpenter
- ‘Moulin Rouge! The Musical’ by the Original Broadway Cast
- ‘Stranger In The Alps (Deluxe Edition’ & ‘Punisher’ by Phoebe Bridgers
- ‘SOS Deluxe: LANA’ by SZA
