How Do Women View Themselves? (Her Campus Style)

"Describe yourself in one word" was the prompt given to the IUP Her Campus members last semester. It's not as easy as it sounds. Some sat there stumped while others had difficulty choosing only one word. Even though I was the one to come up with the question, I too had trouble answering it.

So often, people tend to view themselves negatively because of the pressure put on us from the media and society. My goal of asking the members this question was to get them to think of themselves in a positive light.

Here are the words they chose along with a description as to why they feel the word best describes them.

"I am always willing to talk to someone and meet new people." -Catherine

"I am confident in myself and my abilities. I know I will be successful." -Sami

"I chose this adjective because once I put my mind to do something, I do it. I go after everything I want no matter the difficulty. I believe you can do anything that you put your mind to."

"I chose ambitious because I am a person who keeps setting goals and striving to meet them. I always want to aim higher and do more." -Dannie

"I chose this word because it is positive and it reflects who I am as a person." -Bonnie

"I will do anything I can for my family and friends in order for them to be happy." -Jessica

"I try to be hopeful and confident about my future." -Jecca

"I do my best to keep my promises." -Payton

"I try to go with the flow and keep an open mind." -Kate

"Do unto others as they would do unto you." -Sarah

"Women are all different in their own way." -Nicolette
