Some of the most exciting news of 2020 was hearing that there would be a sequel to Disney’s most iconic Halloween movie, Hocus Pocus. This is one I have to watch at least once when October hits, but the end of the original film from the ’90s didn’t seem like there was room for a sequel. The 3 main characters, Max, Dani, and Allison, defeat the witches and they turn to dust, but according to multiple posts I’ve seen on TikTok and Instagram, actresses Bette Milder, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy who play witches Winifred, Sarah, and Mary Sanderson will be back for the sequel. If the witches were turned to dust how will they return? Many TikToker’s (including the creator I found at the handle @angelaafreitag) had a theory.

Starting in the original movie we can theorize that Allison was a descendent of a witch from Salem. In the beginning, after she gives Max back his number, we see her leaving and pulling a red hood over her head, one that looks a lot like the ones the Sanderson sisters are seen wearing throughout the movie. The most prominent thought is that in Max and Dani’s house, Allison uses salt to ward off the witches since they can’t cross a line of salt. In this scene, the witches call her a white witch, which could also be hinting that Allison is a witch and just doesn’t want anyone to know. Maybe that’s why Max lit the candle in the witches museum that Allison’s family just so happens to own and she can get into whenever she pleases even after it’s been shut down. If we think about what could happen in this sequel movie with the information given, could there be a way for Allison to revive them from dust? I think it’s a far stretch, but for money, I think Disney would try to pull it.

If somehow after they set Thackery’s soul free Allison went back to find the book and possible remnants of the witches dust, there could very well be a spell in the spellbook that would bring them back from dust. Or maybe, since Winnie was turned to stone and then exploded, maybe her pieces would be a little easier to find. Then there would be this convenient spell that allows Allison to bring back Winnie and they find a way to bring back Sarah and Mary? There is a lot to think about, but we also don’t have a final date as to when it comes out so it gives us as watchers enough time to ponder.
