A Guy’s Top 5 Shows This Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at IUP chapter.

Here’s a list of shows that I’m watching this fall. Pull up a seat, turn on the tube, and check these out too!

666 Park Avenue

After many failed shows ABC has tried to replace Brothers and Sisters with, I think they may have finally found a winner. 666 Park Avenue is seductive, dramatic and mysterious. It’s a bit creepy at times too, however I can handle it, and if I can handle it anyone can!  The semi-supernatural story follows two young people trying to make a career in New York City. They applied to become the building managers at the Drake, they left the building thinking they didn’t get the job but they did! They moved in, and things haven’t been the same since.  Jane, the loving and supportive girl friend of Henry has started seeing people who are dead after she dug around in the history of the Drake.  Henry has been almost shot at twice, and quite a few people whom he is connected with happen to disappear. Are these bad things happening because of their land lord Gavin Doran, and his sexy wife Olivia are making them happen, or is it just a streak of bad luck? Tune in to ABC on Sunday nights at 10 pm to be seduced by them and the other great story lines!

Arrow

I don’t usually watch shows on the CW, but for some reason I decided to tune in to watch Arrow, and I am very glad I did. The show has a very “batman” feel because it’s about a secret super hero who is also a billionaire playboy.  Oliver Queen has vanished for years and all anyone knows is that he was on an island and that the island changed him. What Oliver learned on that island has led him to become a vigilante whose weapon of choice is an arrow. I must say, I am jealous of his mad arrow shooting skills and wish I could do his workout regimen because he is freaking ripped. I also love the fact that he is trying to make his city a better place by ridding it of crime, however not everyone is happy about this, especially a detective named Quentin Lance, who happens to be Oliver’s ex girlfriends father!  This great action packed show is aired on the CW on Wednesdays at 8 pm!

Malibu Country

I don’t party every Friday night, so I usually try to find something on TV and it’s very hard to find something that isn’t lame on Friday nights. Malibu Country isn’t lame, so this is a god send. The show stars Reba Mcintire, so if you have watched Reba and loved it, this show is for you!  This woman decides enough is enough and leaves her lying, cheating husband; she packs her bags and heads to Malibu where she hopes to start a new life! This is hard because her husband is famous and he is constantly in the tabloids.  She must also protect her children from the materialistic culture of Malibu. Reba is funny and even without Barbra Jean hanging all over her being, well Barbra Jean! Be sure to tune into ABC at 8:30 on Fridays if you aren’t busy partying!

Jersey Shore

It’s what we have been waiting for, the final season of Jersey Shore. I will miss the GTL sessions, but I think Snooki and the gang have had a good run. It’s time to grow up and move on, but why not have one last hoorah? After this season, I honestly don’t think it would be fun anymore since The Situation just got out of rehab and isn’t supposed to drugs or alcohol and Snooki has a kid and has to act responsible. I’m glad that Mike got help and that Snooki has a healthy baby boy, but having them in a reality show would be kind of sad and pathetic. The only thing we would have to look forward to is Ronnie and Sam’s future wedding and divorcé, and Deena falling at the reception. I’m going to enjoy the last season knowing that they are going to move on and live happy and healthy lives… hopefully! Watch the last season of Jersey Shore on MTV at 10 pm on Thursdays!

Chelsea Lately

This is the only late night television show that I can actually tolerate watching. It’s nice to have Chelsea on beside you when you are up late at night wondering why you procrastinated on that research paper that’s due tomorrow. Her sarcastic comments and honest opinions about current events in Hollywood makes you wonder why she isn’t a news anchor because more people would tune in to get a laugh. Her round table of comedians offer important view points about issues that surround America and they say things you really want to say but you know you are going to get slapped if you say them. Chelsea Handler also interviews celebrities and makes them seem more human by exposing their flaws and asking about funny stories in the lives of the celebrities. If you are sick of day time talk shows commentary about current events and their way of making celebrities look like they so above us, turn in to Chelsea Lately every weeknight on E! at 11pm. It’s late but if you are going to be up that late being miserable because of that paper you kept putting off, you might as well get a laugh out of it!
