Hello, my lovelies. I welcome you back to my week’s hair tips! I’ve become such a hair person since starting my hair coloring journey back in 2022. As someone who dyes their hair — and I do it pretty often — I have some tips about that greasy hair. I not only have some products you can use, but also some hairstyling tips!! For this 2024 I want all of our hair and scalps to have the glow-up they so respectfully deserve. I also feel like greasy hair shouldn’t hold such a “dirty girl” aesthetic as maybe the tiktokers would call it. Like babez, I want my hair to be BEAUTIFUL. So to my natural and colored hair baddies, let’s enlighten some of these misinformed folks with these tips!

I will start with a few products that have saved me on a “bad hair day.”

Dry shampoo duh?!

I feel like a good dry shampoo can save anyone on a greasy hair day. I prefer the powder dry shampoo over an aerosol one any day, but sometimes my bank can’t keep up. I feel like a beauty queen with my dry shampoo, like I’m a little unstoppable. Like girl this is my world and y’all are living rent free here. But anyway, wholeheartedly and honestly I used to hate dry shampoo until I found a good one. When I use a powdered dry shampoo I use the Billie one. I just feel like a powder dry shampoo does witchcraft to my greasy hair. But if I gotta use a little spray one I use the Hairitage one. Who doesn’t love a good quick and easy fix?

a hat?

My biggest thing when I originally started training my hair was, I wore hats. Smart play on my behalf honestly. A hat has saved my day over 100 times. Specifically more when it’s cold outside. I tell people the winter is probably the best time to train your hair cause you can literally wear a beanie everyday and get away with it. If you can rock a good dad hat (I’m jealous ’cause I can’t) you can even do that if that’s your thing. Gotta solve all the problems for all types of girlies (I’m a psych major if you can’t tell). But I feel like hats are in maybe? Also hats save you from UV rays so an extra bonus.

Shampoo or Shamdoo

I thought that little play on words was funny for like 10 minutes. Anyway, if you are just a girly with oily prone hair did you know you might just not be using the correct shampoo for your hair. You gotta make sure you are using a shampoo that is correctly cleansing your scalp. Most shampoos on the market are not going to cut it for you sweetie. You want to look for shampoos that contain sulfates or are literally labeled as a detox or even clarifying shampoo. You can look for something more pricey but Pantene volume and body can do the job just as well. You’re welcome.

Onto hairstyles that work for me and will 100% work for you!

A messy bun

If my hair was currently long enough it would be in a messy bun every other day. A simple and easy way to hide the greasy hair without putting product in it. You can use most of these hairstyles to even do oil treatments in your hair and it still won’t look bad. Saving my besties with one good hair tip, I guess.

Slick Back

You can slick back almost any hairstyle and it will work. The slick back is so in as well. My big head can’t work a good slick back, but I have to conquer the greasy hair days once and for all. I mostly do this with a half up half down look, but to each their own. I also feel like a slick back hairstyle is for the day you either wash your hair or the day before. Gel can get a little crusty and it can look weird after too long sometimes.

braids

If I knew how to french braid I would wear them everyday. I feel like just putting your hair into some braids can hide the greasy hair pretty well. I used to get my little sister to braid my hair all the time when it was getting greasy. She hated me. Lol all jokes. Put some little bows on the ends and bam you become such a cutie patootie not that you weren’t one to begin with pookie ;).

curl that hair

If you are feeling a little spicy with it. Hair curls best when it’s a couple days old. At least that’s what I’ve always been told and it works for me. So get out that curling iron and go at it. Now I don’t do this often and when I do I use a heat protectant spray, but curls are so cute I wish they were my natural hair type.

Half up half down

Half up half down is literally my favorite hairstyle even on none greasy hair days. You can do so much with a HUHD (this is short for half up half down). Like buns, braids, pigtails, etc. There is literally endless ways to style HUHD, gosh I love it! And that’s why I left it for last. Best for last :,(

These are the tips and tricks I found that work for me currently and in the past. I hope these help you as much as they have helped me. Let’s have cute and healthy hair in 2024. Love ya! xx your hair fairy!
