Dreams are not fully understood, but it is clear that they provide us with a deeper connection to the subconscious mind. Whether you believe dreams are random fabrications of the mind or symbolic/prophetic of something larger, you may be interested in some theories about dream interpretation. Here are five of the most common dreams and some possible explanations for what they might symbolize.

1. Falling – dreams about falling indicate that you are struggling with stress and anxiety. It can also represent a loss of control in some aspect of your life. It may be beneficial to analyze your stressors and try to work through them in order to relieve anxiety and prevent waking up throughout the night because of these dreams.

2. Being late – there are several interpretations for a dream in which you are late, but generally this dream can indicate how prepared (or unprepared) you are for your future. It can also mean that you are avoiding something in your life that is holding you back. You may find it helpful to clear your mind of daily thoughts and obligations to focus on these important decisions.

3. Flying – if you dream you are flying this could indicate a new opportunity or a positive change in your life. Generally, this dream suggests you have regained control over some aspect of your life that could allow you to overcome difficulties.

4. Teeth falling out – oddly enough, this is a dream many people experience. Again, there are several different interpretations, but a common explanation is that it is related to loss. Loss can come in many forms such as a loved one dying or a relationship ending. Other experts suggest this dream could be related to negative self-image, either from a lack of self-care or a fear of others judging you. Another interesting explanation is that these dreams may occur if you grind your teeth at night!

5. Snakes – many experts suggest there are different meanings depending on the number of snakes, the position they’re in, and the context of the dream. Snake dreams can indicate something positive or negative. One interpretation is that snakes represent wisdom and personal transformations of growth. Dreaming of snakes could also symbolize betrayal.
