After three years of leaving her mark at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Patrice Douglas is ready to take her senior year by storm using skills she has learned in past years as a student.
“IUP has taught me many things,” Patrice said. “Most importantly, it’s taught me that I can do so much on my own; meet new people, overcome obstacles and really succeed if I set my mind to it.”
Patrice is a Management Information Systems major in the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology here at IUP. Of her chosen field, Patrice said, “I chose this major because not only is it a job in high demand,” Patrice said, “but it involves working in the business field with computers.”
“This really intrigues me because I have a great interest in computers and I love working in the business field. I feel that IUP is the best place to pursue this major due to its award winning and internationally recognized Eberly College of Business.”
Patrice will be entering her senior year with a scholarship and two national business competition awards under her belt. Patrice is a highly active student participating in community service opportunities and serving as vice president of the co-ed service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega (APO)— all while maintaining a 3.0 grade point average.
Patrice enjoys dancing, helping others, and hanging out with friends. When she is not hard at work ensuring good grades, Patrice can be found helping others in any way she can. From giving simple advice to hours of community service, she prides herself on her ability to place the needs of others before her own.
Patrice is also part of Judah Praise, a Christian ministry at Victory Christian Assembly. She uses her years of technical dance training to contribute to choreography in the ministry. Patrice also contributes to the creative process in the ministry that combines dance and music to entertain and worship at Victory.
Upon graduation, Patrice plans to work for a large corporation. Patrice is well on her way to a successful future and, having learned a thing or two from her last three years at IUP, she encourages incoming freshman and current students to “never hold back.”
“Don’t be shy!” Patrice said. “Do everything you have even the slightest interest in around campus, such as clubs.
“It’s almost like YOLO (You Only Live Once) in the most positive way because you only have the college experience once, so enjoy it and make it the best, most productive growth and exploring period of your life.”
