This week, I am incredibly honored to introduce Brydon DeWitt, an IUP Campus Celebrity! Brydon is a twenty-six year old Computer Science major (applied track) and Asian Studies major, as well as a Communications Media minor! This busy guy is currently the Japanese Student Association (JAPASO) President for this school year. You can often catch him at events held by JAPASO or their friends on campus, the Asian Studies Club.

A well-versed and diverse student, Brydon works both at the American Language Institute (ALI) as a student worker and a tutor to those studying abroad in America and as a computer repair guy and a website designer. Brydon has also spent a year studying in Japan, which he says “really changed my outlook on many things.” He hopes to combine these interests by ideally working some kind of a computer related job in Japan someday, as he really enjoyed Japan and computers may just be his very first love.

“As a kid, I had a friend of the family show me how to program a little bit and after I figured out I could make the computer do my bidding. I decided I wanted to become a programmer.”

Not your run-of-the-mill college guy, Brydon has also achieved a black belt in Taekwondo. If he could do anything, he says that he would like to make enough money that he would never need to work again, though he probably would anyway. When asked what kind of advice he would give to his fellow IUPeople, he had this to say: “Do as much as you can in your field now because everywhere you look for jobs even the entry-level positions require a certain amount of experience.”

So, be sure to say hello to this accomplished Computer Science and Asian Studies major and Communications Media minor if you see him on campus, and be sure to check out the Japanese Student Association’s facebook page if you have any interest!

Hey all! My name's Cat, and I'm a proud English major at IUP campus, with a minor in Woman's studies, and maybe even Asian studies too if I can manage it. I'm not nearly as much of a workaholic as that makes me sound like though, I promise. I'm a huge nerd, thanks to my daddy, so when I'm not writing or reading you can catch me watching eclectic shows, playing strange games, and discussing why each of my friends is which superhero. My biggest vice is coffee, my favorite sport is marathon reading, and my favorite color is yellow, in case any of you lovely people really wanted to know. Feel free to contact me at any time, even just to chat! <3
